After its theatrical release on October 25, 2024, the Telugu movie Pottel is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Sahit Mothkhuri, the movie garnered attention for its unique storyline set in the 1980s and its rooted depiction of life in a backward village in Telangana. Despite being a box-office failure, Pottel is a gripping drama with excellent writing.
The story revolves around Ganga, a shepherd played by Yuva Chandra Krishna, who takes care of Balamma Pottel, a goat destined for a sacred sacrifice. Ganga’s sole mission is to educate his daughter and expose Patel’s (Ajay) oppressive rule over the village. Trouble begins when Balamma Pottel goes missing, and Patel warns Ganga of dire consequences, threatening to sacrifice Ganga’s daughter instead. The rest of the story unfolds with twists and turns as Ganga battles to retrieve Balamma Pottel and defy Patel’s dominance.
The movie stars Yuva Chandra Krishna, Ananya Nagalla, Ajay, Noel Sean, Priyanka Sharma, Tanaswi Choudary, Srikanth Iyengar and others in prominent roles, with music composed by Shekar Chandra.
